SINOTAPH I

2022 | Digital [Clip Studio Paint]

Illustration that doubled up as a study. It had been a long while since I had done anything with this much rendering, mostly due to hardware limitations for the last couple of years. It had only been until recent I had a machine with pen sesnitivity that could make soft, graphite-like looks like this possible.

SINOTAPH started off as a mask to let me reflect a specific mood or headspace, exploring that mess almost primordial where flesh and self and being flashes its fangs or lumbers out of a hazy, lucid state.

If this piece is too dark [in the literal sense], that's my bad: my machine's screen is almost too good with how it displays dark tonal values.
